Home for the Holidays

DSC_0154

I finished up my semester in Toronto and am home for the holiday break. It’s nice to be back in Winnipeg. Even though it is one of the coldest cities on earth, it is still my home, and I love it.  Despite the cold, Winnipeg winters have a festive snowy wonderland charm. I’ve been trying to spend my time at home eating/drinking at my favourite spots and with my favourite people, and I thought I’d share some of my images from my holiday so far.

Yorkville Field Trip

DSC_0891

My class went on a field trip to Yorkville in Toronto this afternoon to check out the window and in-store displays of the luxury & high end retailers this season. We started at Anthropologie, made our way to Free People, Teatro Verde, Harry Rosen, Kate Spade, Pottery Barn, Burberry, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Williams Sonoma. It was a lovely day. Here are some images I took of our adventure.

Paintings by Wanda Koop

These are examples of work by Wanda Koop. Like myself, Wanda is from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and a fellow University of Manitoba, School of Art Graduate. I am quite fond of her work, and she’s certainly a role-model as a female contemporary Canadian artist. I had the pleasure of briefly meeting Wanda a few years ago when I worked at a local art supplier. What I am most captured by in terms of her painting, is her colour palette. She pairs subtle, neutral tones with fluorescents so effortlessly. These are some examples of my favourite pieces of hers. To see more, I’ve listed her website at the end of this post.
